The Lariviere Lab investigates host-symbiont physical interactions, with a primary focus on the honey bee microbiome and additional interest in other systems, such as plant-associated microbiomes. The candidate will spearhead ongoing research, communicate findings, and contribute to the mission to mentor students in the lab. Responsibilities include: · Microbiology: Lead work with bacterial symbionts, including bacterial cell culture, genome engineering, and phenotypic assays (such as microscopy).· Molecular biology: Perform molecular biology, including molecular cloning, qPCR, and RNA/DNA sequencing.· Host-microbe studies: Conduct in vivo experiments with honey bees and/or other model systems to be established in the lab.· Computational biology: Perform bioinformatic analyses, including RNAseq analysis, genome sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree creation, and protein structure prediction.· Collaboration: Collaborate with students and researchers internal and external to the lab. Given the opportunity, serve as a mentor to graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.· Communication: Communicate research findings by writing manuscripts for publication, including primary research articles and review articles. Present research findings orally and by poster at lab meetings, seminars, and conferences.· Organization and contribution to laboratory operations: Maintain lab notebook and relevant data files. Assist in ordering materials and reagents when appropriate. Contribute to annual lab cleanups and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Doctorate degree Medicine (MD) requiredExperience:Experience with host-microbe interactions, microbiology, and molecular biology preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

+ Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
+ Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
+ Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
