Job Title: Pipefitter

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our marine engineering team for the Simanek ship project. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing piping systems critical to the vessel’s operations. This role requires precision, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in challenging shipboard environments.

Responsibilities

+ Read and interpret ship schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine pipe system layouts.

+ Measure, cut, thread, bend, and install pipes using appropriate tools and techniques.

+ Fit and secure pipes by welding, bolting, or brazing according to specifications.

+ Conduct pressure tests and inspections to ensure system integrity and compliance with marine standards.

+ Collaborate with welders, structural fitters, and engineers to coordinate installation and repair work.

+ Maintain and repair existing piping systems, including fuel, water, hydraulic, and steam lines.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in pipe fitting.

+ Ability to perform firewatching duties.

+ Safety-focused with strong attention to detail.

+ Capable of pipe welding.

+ Ability to remain alert for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Prior construction or industrial experience is a plus.

+ OSHA 10 certification is a plus.

Work Environment

Work at a coast guard base with standard hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, with Saturdays required when working overtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of North Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
