Job Summary:
The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through Education, Biomedical Research, and Health Care. Beyond our downtown campus, we provide care through our clinics and offices across the greater Syracuse area.
In support of our ongoing growth, we are seeking highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider to serve in a full-time Surgical Specialty Float role servicing both Inpatient and Ambulatory coverage at the Downtown Campus.
Key responsibilities:
+ Cover Trauma Surgery, Burn Surgery and Acute Care Surgery in a float capacity.
+ Conduct inpatient and outpatient encounters at the Downtown campus, providing education to and interfacing with primary teams, patients, and families prior to discharge.
+ Assess and evaluate patients, order and interpret laboratory tests & diagnostic studies, and arrange referrals, consultations, and therapeutic services.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, referring physicians, and all members of the health care team.
As an APP, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating professionalism, leadership, and a commitment to Upstate’s mission, vision, and values, while adhering to all institutional policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (or graduated from an accredited PA program) or will be eligible by time of appointment.
+ NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
+ Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
+ Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
+ CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
+ Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in Acute Care
+ Experience in a Surgical Subspecialty
Work Days:
Monday-Friday, Days and Evenings with rotation into Weekends and Holidays.
