Assists surgical team before during and after surgery with equipment and supplies.
*The call model is as follows:
+ Part time work- Full time pay
+ Work 5 shifts per 2 week pay period
+ M, W, F 7-3 call -those evenings 5p-7a
+ Tu, TH 7-3 call- those evenings 5p-7a
+ No weekend Call
+ No holiday Call
Requirements:
+ Post-secondary education
+ NH Medical Tech Registration
Major Responsibilities:
1. Prepares equipment and instruments on the back table and Mayo stand utilizing sterile technique.
2. Performs sponge; sharps; etc. count with circulating RN (if applicable).
3. Assists surgeon with gowning and gloving; draping and throughout the procedure with supplies and instruments.
4. Cuts suture material as directed; retracts and sponges tissue as directed by surgeon.
5. May train; supervise; and mentor others in assistant; support or scheduling positions as directed. Also may provide coverage for other positions within the department; as appropriate.
6. Applies dressing at completion of procedure as applicable.
7. Maintains universal precautions in removing draping material and handling/containing instruments; equipment; linen and disposable items.
8. May assist; as directed by circulating RN; as second circulator in room.
9. Picks cases and updates preference cards.
10. Assists with special projects as requested.
