About this Job
Northwestern State University's College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 9-month full-time faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs in Nursing available in Shreveport beginning January 5, 2026.
Academic rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately. Position will remain open until filled.

Minimum Qualifications
A Master of Science in Nursing degree is required; however, a Doctorate is preferred; Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty. Unencumbered licensure status as an RN in the state of Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure. At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience; three (3) or more preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
Job Duties and Other Information
•Perform faculty responsibilities within a large nursing education department at Northwestern State University.
•Support program expansion efforts in Shreveport and surrounding areas.
•Teach assigned courses in a manner that promotes academic excellence and student engagement.
•Provide instruction in areas of professional and clinical expertise.
•Evaluate student learning outcomes and provide constructive feedback.
•Serve as a professional role model to students and peers.
•Represent the university in a positive and professional manner.
•Assist in maintaining records and documentation pertinent to the College of Nursing.
•Uphold confidentiality regarding faculty, staff, and students in compliance with federal laws and university policies.
•Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of policies and procedures within the College of Nursing.
•Attend College of Nursing and university functions, meetings, and assigned committee activities.
•Maintain regular office hours and demonstrate reliable attendance.
•Advise and mentor students during office hours and as needed.
•Engage in activities that promote the College of Nursing, which may occur during evenings, weekends, or off-site.
•Exhibit flexibility, collaboration, and a supportive attitude in all college and university-related activities.
•Actively recruit students to programs within the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health.
•Serve as a liaison between the College and other university departments, as well as local, state, and national agencies and organizations.
•Master's degree in Nursing required; Doctorate preferred.
•Eligibility for membership in the undergraduate faculty.
•Unencumbered RN license in the state of Louisiana, or eligibility for licensure.
•Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
•Minimum of three (3) years of nurse educator experience; more than three years preferred.
•Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
•Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and academic advising.
•Ability to pass a criminal background check.
•Must meet all university-defined standards for academic appointment.
