    Summary This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE32), Position Description Number D1069000 and is part of the FL AASF 1, National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (TITLE32), WG-8810-11, you will test and troubleshoot aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment. Diagnoses any malfunctions of rotor/propeller systems and makes necessary repairs. This includes disassembly, repair, and reassembling rotor/propeller system components, and internal hydraulic and electrical components using common to special tools, and equipment. Repairs and refinishes blades/propellers using a variety of metal working tools and precision measuring instruments. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, engine noise ,heat blast, rotating propellers, explosives, electrical voltage, fire, or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints, and solvents. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing up to 50 pounds. Hoists, hand trucks, balancing equipment, lifts, and other employees are available to assist when handling heavy or awkward items. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. The current exclusive representative is The Association of Civilian Technicians, Chapter 87 and the President is Mr. Michael Ortmayer at [email protected] MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted, E1 thru E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures, and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-11 Must have at least 18months of experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. Education If you are using Education to qualify for this position, you must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
