    The Engineering Lead (Architect) will serve as the senior technical lead for DISA’s sensing development activities. This role is responsible for designing, architecting, integrating, modernizing, and documenting cyber sensing capabilities including the Open Sensor Platform, Full Packet Capture, Automated Security Validation, Intrusion Detection System services, and future sensing technologies. The Engineering Lead will drive requirements analysis, preliminary and critical design development, architecture creation, integration strategies, modernization planning, and system engineering activities across multiple environments including cloud, lab, and operational networks. The Engineering Lead will work closely with Government leadership, system owners, engineering teams, and cybersecurity personnel to ensure new sensing capabilities meet mission objectives, integrate seamlessly with DoD networks, and support the defense of the DoDIN.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Lead architecture, system design, and engineering activities for the modernization, integration, and development of DISA sensing capabilities under Task 6.5.

    + Provide technical leadership for solution development spanning OSP, FPCAP, ASV, IDS, and future enterprise sensor technologies.

    + Conduct requirements analysis and develop system, functional, and performance requirements supporting sensing development.

    + Develop system architectures, interface control documents, engineering diagrams, and solution architectures using DoDAF or other Government approved frameworks.

    + Lead the design and documentation of new sensing solutions including modernization of OSP, centralized sensing management platforms, sensor virtualization, cloud based IDS, and unified sensing architectures.

    + Oversee development of preliminary and critical design packages, ensuring traceability to requirements and alignment with mission needs.

    + Lead engineering assessments, analysis of alternatives, capability trade studies, and white papers identifying optimal technical approaches.

    + Provide engineering oversight for integration and testing of sensing capabilities in lab, cloud, and production representative environments.

    + Collaborate with test engineers to define integration test requirements, performance benchmarks, interoperability expectations, and validation strategies.

    + Support the operation and enhancement of the sensing lab environment including testing, verification, prototyping, and evaluation of new tools.

    + Define and maintain reference architectures, system baselines, and engineering standards for sensing capabilities across environments.

    + Work closely with cybersecurity and A&A personnel to ensure designs incorporate required security controls and accreditation considerations.

    + Support Government technical reviews including SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, and related design forums.

    + Provide engineering inputs for deployment strategies, implementation plans, and release management processes.

    + Mentor engineering personnel and coordinate technical activities across engineering, development, O&M, and cybersecurity teams.

    + Prepare engineering documents, technical briefs, design descriptions, and program artifacts required by the Government.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Active DoD Secret clearance

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.

    + Seven (7) plus years of experience in systems engineering, architecture, or complex system design for DoD, cyber, or enterprise environments.

    + Experience architecting distributed sensor systems, cybersecurity tools, network security solutions, or large scale monitoring platforms.

    + Strong understanding of cyber sensing technologies including intrusion detection, packet capture, malware detection, threat analytics, and SIEM integration.

    + Experience designing solutions for both on premises and cloud environments including virtualization, containerization, and cloud native architectures.

    + Demonstrated experience with requirements decomposition, DoDAF architecture development, design documentation, and engineering planning.

    + Experience supporting or leading engineering activities aligned with SRR, SFR, PDR, and CDR milestones.

    + Knowledge of DevSecOps principles, automation, test integration, and scalable deployment architectures.

    + Strong knowledge of networking, system administration, distributed systems, and data engineering concepts.

    + Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical audiences.

    + Experience supporting DISA, DoD cyber programs, or large scale operational sensor platforms is highly desired.
