Job Description
This position requires you to be working in office, 3 days per week, from our Bala Cynwyd, PA office.
Position Summary
The Assortment Analyst supports data-driven merchandising decisions that optimize product assortments at the store and category level. This role blends analytical expertise with strong business acumen to uncover trends, evaluate performance, and deliver actionable insights that improve sales, margin, inventory health, and customer experience. The Analyst collaborates closely with merchandising, operations, and marketing teams to ensure assortments align with business needs and market demand.
Key Responsibilities
+ Analyze sales, inventory, margin, and offtake data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks across categories and store locations.
+ Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to track merchandising KPIs (e.g., sell-through, stock turns, markdown performance).
+ Support product assortment planning by providing SKU-level and category-level insights that inform pricing, mix, lifecycle management, and promotional decisions.
+ Monitor competitor pricing, assortment, and promotional activity to guide strategic recommendations.
+ Partner with merchandising, operations, and marketing teams on promotional planning and execution.
+ Conduct deep-dive analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of assortment changes, pricing strategies, and promotional actions.
+ Present analytical insights and recommendations in a clear, actionable format for cross-functional stakeholders and senior leaders.
+ Ensure data quality and integrity across reporting tools, methodologies, and analytical processes.
Education and Experience
+ 4-6 years of experience required
+ Proficiency with Excel and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, DOMO, Looker).
+ Experience in retail, consumer goods, automotive, or related industries is beneficial but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Strong understanding of retail metrics, merchandising principles, and product lifecycle concepts.
+ Familiarity with consumer offtake and syndicated data sources (e.g., internal POS, NielsenIQ, Circana).
+ Knowledge of analytics tools or programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R (preferred).
+ Familiarity with retail ERP or merchandising systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Netsuite) is a plus.
+ Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret large datasets into meaningful business insights.
+ High attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
+ Critical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
+ Ability to communicate complex data clearly to non-technical audiences.
+ Strong business acumen and an understanding of financial and operational implications of assortment decisions.
+ Skilled in data visualization and storytelling through dashboards and presentations.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
+ Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
+ Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
+ Ability to operate standard office equipment.
+ Occasional travel may be required (<10%).
