Job Summary:
The Scientist/Researcher II is an middle-level position responsible for supporting complex research projects and initiatives. This role involves testing wastewater in the pursuit of treatability strategies, performing analytical tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatability, data compilation, and drafting of project reports. The Scientist/Researcher II works closely with Scientist/Researcher III-IV to identify and resolve research issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Participate in proposal and scope of work development including providing technical information to author, providing review/feedback of draft, and/or development of proposal/scope of work sections for jar and bench-scale testing
+ Perform analytical techniques including but not limited to ion chromatography, total organic carbon, atomic absorption, conductivity, pH, and turbidity.
+ Perform treatability tests using bench-scale and pilot-scale techniques
+ Practice routine, detail-oriented communication with lab teammates to answer general project questions and provide status updates
+ Communicate with Evoqua project team, including technical updates.
+ Interpret test results, provides recommendations, and seeks direction from Laboratory Manager and project technical staff (e.g., Principal Engineer, Scientist III/IV, etc.)
+ Send final report to project team for review and feedback
+ Assist in new method development for analytical and pilot testing (on-site capabilities or seeking outsourced labs)
+ Learn and adhere to 5S and lean principles
+ Foster a culture of safety

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field with 3-5 years of **industrial** experience or a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, or a related field with 2-3 years of **industrial** experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Proficiency in research tools and software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop and implement research strategies and plans.
• Experience in conducting experimental design and statistical analysis.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
