    Job Description

    A large retail company is looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator based in India to join our offshore DBA team, providing round-the-clock support for a large-scale retail environment with over 200 databases supporting 200+ store locations. Working closely with one other offshore DBA, the Lead SQL Server DBA, and the onshore team, you will play a critical role in maintaining system availability, driving upgrades and migration projects, resolving incidents, optimizing performance, and ensuring robust security and disaster recovery capabilities for mission-critical retail systems targeting 99.99% uptime. MUST BE ABLE TO START WITHIN 3 WEEKS FROM OFFER!

     

    Pay Rate: 20-25/hr

    Skills and Requirements

     

    - 5+ years hands-on Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience (2016–2022)

     

    Expertise in upgrades, migrations, patching, backup/restore

     

    - Strong AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clustering experience

     

    - Proven performance tuning and troubleshooting (queries, indexes, execution plans)

     

    - Solid SQL Server security implementation (roles, permissions, auditing, encryption)

     

    - Hands-on experience with Idera Diagnostic Manager or SolarWinds DPA

     

    - Knowledge of Azure SQL Database or SQL Managed Instance

     

    - Scripting/automation skills using PowerShell or T-SQL

     

    - Availability for follow-the-sun shifts, night/weekend work, and on-call rotation

    - Excellent English communication and remote collaboration skills - Experience in retail or POS environments

    - Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira)

     

    - Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA/MCSE: Data Management and Analytics or DP-300)
