    **Job Title:** Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Grade III

    **Location:** Based out of Houston, Texas - (Traveling Required)

    **Reports to:** Shop Manager

    **Compensation Range:** $30 – $50 hourly (based on experience and qualifications)

    **Other Compensation:** Eligible for overtime and $40 daily per diem while traveling

    What We Are Looking For

     

    We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Level III to join our team. This role is critical to maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment used in construction and disaster recovery operations. The position requires advanced mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues. The mechanic will work independently and as part of a team, often traveling to various job sites. Success in the first 12 months includes mastering our fleet systems, ensuring equipment uptime, and contributing to safe and efficient operations.

    What You Will Do

    + Read job orders, observe, and listen to truck/equipment in operation to determine malfunction, and plan work procedures.

    + Disassemble machinery, heavy equipment, and diesel/gasoline engines to remove parts and make applicable repairs.

    + Diagnose, analyze, repair, adjust and align components of machinery, heavy equipment, and engines to determine correct direction of repair and root cause of failure.

    + Order and/or requisition parts and materials as needed.

    + Maintain vehicle records by annotating all received services and repairs.

    + Complete test runs on repaired machinery, heavy equipment, and engines to verify adequacy of repairs.

    + Understand and perform various daily and weekly assignments from verbal or written communication.

    + Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.

    + Adhere to all company safety standards/policies and applicable OSHA regulations.

    + Travel to work at different job sites as needed.

    Required Qualifications

    + 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining a wide variety of heavy equipment, including heavy-duty vehicles, construction-grade equipment, and automotive systems.

    + Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydralic and electronic issues across complex systems.

    + Proficiency with all tools needed to perform the duties above.

    + Valid state issued driver’s license and a clean MVR.

    + Travel required; must be willing to travel and able to work at different job sites as needed during storm season.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Hydraulic troubleshooting experience.

    + Extremely advanced mechanical aptitude.

    + Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

    + Willingness to follow safety procedures and use safety equipment consistently.

    Physical Requirements and Environment

    + Frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching.

    + Work on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles in cramped or awkward positions.

    + Lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted; heavier items with assistance or lifting devices.

    + Push, pull, and position parts, assemblies, and equipment.

    + Work from ladders or platforms at varying heights.

    + Exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, chemicals, and vibration.

    + Use of prescribed safety equipment including hearing protection, hard hats, steel-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing.

    + Noise level in the work environment is often loud.
