    Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D1724000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard. Responsibilities As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, you will develops plans, procedures, goals and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Air Force (USAF) and Air National Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards. Programs include physical examinations and standards, flight medicine and related aero medical and force health management concerns. Interprets directives and applies standards to determine worldwide deployability of personnel. Advises and makes recommendations to senior officials on force health issues related to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance. Determines requirements, requests funding and administers accounts for procurement of supplies, equipment, and medical assessment in support of the physical exam process, flight medicine activities and related programs. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWOR Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-3 through E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: 4A071/4N071 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in clerical, office, or other work that indicates you have the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of position such as knowledge of the mission, organization, requirements and procedures of military medicine to provide guidance and assistance, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level to support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists, Do you also have detailed knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, knowledge of medical entitlements and military and civilian health care systems. Must possess a working knowledge of other DOD component medical requirements. **Experiences gained through military technical AFSC 4E0X1, Public Health training schools are included in the two year on-the-job experience** Education A High School Diploma with completed courses in biology, chemistry, and general science. College course work in health care administration, general science, biology, psychology, and chemistry is preferred. The successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position is desired." Must have successfully completed the Air Force Public Health Apprentice course, The Operational Entomology in-residence course, The Center for Disease Control and Prevention Epidemiology course, and Hearing Conservation certification.
