    Job Title: RN Med Surg Tele

     

    Pay: $55 Per Hour

     

    Shift: 48 hours per week, 4 12-hour days

     

    Schedule: 13 Weeks

     

    Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and

     

    adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care as indicated.

    Key Results Area:

    • Performs a head-to-toe assessment of all patients and re-assessments as per policy

    • Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic

    monitoring and physiological functioning

    • Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions,

    treatments, responses, and assessment of changes

    • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Maintains patient

     

    confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual

     

    needs of patients and families. Functions as a patient advocate

     

    • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the

     

    skills necessary to provide appropriate age care to the patients served. Able to interpret data

     

    about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s age-specific needs and provide the care needed

    by the patient group

    • Interact professionally with patients and family and involve patient and family in the formation

     

    of an individualized and mutually agreed upon plan of care. Reviews/revises/updates/resolves

    plan of care daily

    • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness

    of learning, including family in teaching, as appropriate

    • Supervises other health care staff involved in patient care. Allocates and monitors the work of

    others

    • Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures in the department

    • Responds promptly to changes in workload as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and

    efficiency

    • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of performance improvement

    activities to improve patient outcomes, processes, and the work environment

    •Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees

    • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs,

     

    current literature, in-service meetings, staff meetings, and workshops; shows responsibility for

    own professional practice and ongoing education

    • Maintains operation of patient care equipment to include mechanical adjustments. Ensures an

     

    adequate stock of supplies and the proper functioning of equipment. Assists in cost

    containment through the appropriate ordering and conservation of supplies and equipment

    • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations

    • Meets all departmental-specific competencies

    • Performs housekeeping duties when needed

    • Assists with the transportation of patients when needed

    • Adheres to dress code

    • Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines

    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

    • Serves as team leader and role model for other staff members

    Skills & Qualifications:

    Assesses/reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients and applies the nursing process to:

    + Cardiac Monitoring/Intervention

    + Sedation

    + Pain Management

    + Chest Tube care/insertion

    + Medication Administration

    + Pre and Post Cardiac Cath Care

    + TPN/PPN • KODA • Access Central Lines • COBRA • Specialized IV Drips and titration

    + IV therapy • IVADD • Waive Testing • Transfusion Therapy • Information Management

     

    RN license required. CPR required

     

    BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required.

     

    2 years’ experience required, 5 years preferred

     

    An associate’s degree in nursing is required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
