Social Worker MSW/MSW SR - 1.0 FTE - Adult Pulmonary Team - Day Shift - Full Time
Job Summary
This MSW role provides social work services to adults in the Outpatient Cystic Fibrosis clinic, Vent Clinic, Interstitial Lung Disease clinic, Post-ICU Clinic, and General Pulmonary Clinics. This patient population suffers from chronic lung disease and experiences high acuity of anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment and coping concerns, and grief and loss. The social worker will conduct psychosocial assessments, treatment, and care management services to patients and their families who have been referred for social work services by clinic providers. This position will also have a portion of time (approximate caseload of 5-6) dedicated to providing psychotherapy to Pulmonary patients. Both face-to-face and virtual work will be utilized in this position.

This role is a vital and necessary support to Pulmonary patients and medical teams.

Responsibilities*
You will be responsible for:
+ Evaluation of psychosocial needs and provision of billable social work interventions with a high degree of autonomy
+ Facilitating patient and family participation in appropriate health care decision making
+ Crisis intervention
+ Patient and/or family support and counseling
+ Mental health assessment and provision of evidence-based psychotherapy (e.g. CBT, ACT, DBT)
+ Support group facilitation
+ Liaison and referral to community agencies
+ Brief psychotherapeutic intervention, and psychoeducation for patients and caregivers
+ Participation in team meetings, educational activities, and patient advisory board
+ Referral monitoring and management
Required Qualifications*
+ A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
+ A current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan; full LMSW is required for billing purposes.
Desired Qualifications*
+ Significant experience with medical and mental health social work.
+ Experience providing evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
+ Skilled in developing rapport and effectively communicating with a diverse patient population.
+ Efficient, accurate assessment of patient needs and effective case dispositions.
+ Effective organizational skills, flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic medical clinic.
+ Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position.
+ Effective collaboration with a large multi-disciplinary team.
+ Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely clinical records by computer.
Work Schedule
This is full time, 40 hour/week position. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday with start and end times 8:00-4:30 or 8:30-5:00.

Underfill Statement
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Advancement through the career ladder at the Expert or Clinical Scholar Level is required for placement in the MSW Senior Classification
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
