Responsibilities
The Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME) provides strategic and operational leadership for a robust GME enterprise consisting of 19 residency and fellowship programs. This role partners closely with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) to ensure high-quality training, compliance with all regulatory standards, and effective management of personnel, policies, and infrastructure that support graduate and undergraduate medical education.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for all GME operations across 19 ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs
+ Oversee GME accreditation activities, including site visit preparation, annual reporting, action plans, and continuous quality improvement
+ Supervise GME staff and manage HR functions related to residents, fellows, and GME personnel (recruitment, onboarding, evaluations, corrective actions, contracts, and benefits coordination)
+ Lead policy development, revision, dissemination, and implementation for all institutional GME policies
+ Manage institutional GME committees (GMEC, subcommittees, and task forces); support agenda development and documentation
+ Oversee data management, dashboards, and reporting for institutional accreditation and strategic planning
+ Collaborate with finance teams to monitor and forecast GME budgets, funding streams, and cost allocations
+ Support student/resident/fellow experience initiatives, including well-being, professional development, and remediation processes
+ Ensure effective communication across the GME enterprise.
+ Contribute to strategic planning and growth and development of new programs when needed
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ Required Credential(s):
+ None Required.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experiencerequired, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor'sdegree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those yearsbeing in leadership/management.
Additional Preferences
+ Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in education, healthcare administration, public health, or related field preferred
+ Minimum 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in graduate medical education, academic medicine, or healthcare administration. Leadership experience preferred.
+ Knowledge of ACGME Institutional and Program Requirements, accreditation processes, and GME best practices.
+ Strong skills in communication, organization, project management, and problem-solving.
