CNN is looking for an SVP of Machine Learning and AI. This leader will create and drive CNN's Machine Learning strategy across all platforms and experiences. The SVP will create a machine learning and AI center of excellence within CNN to support the strategy and execute across the platforms and experiences. They will lead initiatives to maximize advertising and subscriber revenue, create unique and personalized experiences that delight our readers and viewers, and help our editorial teams to make coverage and programming decisions through data tooling. Ideally, this person is passionate about media, has exceptional machine learning skills, is a thought leader in machine learning and AI, and thrives in working in a dynamic, fast paced environment.

This position reports to the SVP of Data at CNN and will work closely with cross-functional teams within the CNN domestic organization as well as across the CNN Worldwide organization. This role will be accountable to multiple stakeholder groups to maximize the use of machine learning, and will be a thought leader in the use of AI across our products and experiences.

Your Role

+ Create and drive strategy for the application of advanced modeling, machine learning, and AI across CNN

+ Lead machine learning and data science initiatives, in close partnership with product, engineering, data and strategy counterparts.

+ Build and develop the craft of machine learning and advanced AI techniques within CNN.

+ Implement cutting-edge algorithmic techniques to create new data products from ideation to production, meaningfully driving revenue and engagement.

+ Evaluate productivity and AI tools to deploy for analytical and production use cases.

+ Champion and promote the advancement of a data-driven culture across the organization.

+ Serve as a key advisor to the CNN leadership team as the functional expert in machine learning and the technical aspects of AI.

+ Conceptualize, build, and manage the evaluative and predictive models for CNN Digital’s surfaces, services, and products.

+ Provide decision support service and insights for the CNN digital product leadership and their teams in support of growth opportunities.

+ Partner deeply with the Technology organization to create seamless integrations, rapid innovation cycles, while adopting best practices and contributing to technical architectural strategy.

The Essentials

+ Leadership: You have 15+ years of relevant experience in machine learning and data science with previous experience in media or technology, with at least 10 years leading data science teams creating data products that drive business impact. The person will have had experience building and managing a high performing, multifunctional team, with a proven track record of attracting and retaining top ML talent.

+ Technical Mastery: You are a thought-leader in the machine learning and AI space and continually uplevel not only your team but the company by educating and demonstrating the latest techniques.

+ Growth. You have sophisticated knowledge of the digital advertising and streaming business models and market.

+ Data. You are a data driven thinker with proven quantitative expertise. You understand the needs of your partners and proactively originate ground-breaking machine learning solutions that meet those needs.

+ People Management and Collaboration. You are a people manager with 10+ years of experience. You have an inclusive mindset. You can coach and motivate your team. You have had experience at a senior-level needing to manage senior peer-level stakeholders and bring them along in planning or execution. You have experience creating high-level, easily digestible, and understandable read-out reports for the executive-level and are comfortable presenting those findings.

+ Execution. You have managed complex work and delivered results on time. You are aggressive about your goals and have helped your team manage tradeoffs. You have collaborated cross functionally, working with other functions and squads to shared success. You are ruthlessly focused on delivering strategic, impactful work.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $245,700.00 - $456,300.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
