    In this position...

     

    This role is responsible for providing expert tooling solutions, material selection, and injection molding process analysis for Cockpit and Trim applications for programs throughout all phases of the product development process including Studio, Design, Validation and Launch.

     

    What you'll do...

     

    + Develop, validate, and sign off on tool designs for FSS/Build-To-Print Suppliers for assigned parts/programs.

    + Assist Ford PD Engineers and suppliers with Part Feasibility, Tool Design, MoldFlow and Material Selection for Interior components to address failure modes related but not limited to tool robustness, part warp, surface defects, gloss changes. ​

    + Support new product launches and in-flight programs by attending injection mold trials ​to trouble shoot processing or tooling issues that affect part delivery or quality.

    + Develop test plans to validate material and process changes.

    + Develop lessons learned & design rules​ regarding material selection and processing.

    + Develop new materials and processing technologies to Application Readiness.

    + Assist Ford PD engineers in identifying process & material improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization.

     

    You'll have...

     

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, similar degree or equivalent experience.

     

    2+ years of experience in automotive cockpit and trim applications, injection mold tool design, injection mold processing, materials engineering, or related field.

     

    1+ years of automotive experience in launch, root cause analysis for design/manufacturing issues, and quick implementation of corrective actions.

     

    Even better, you may have...

     

    Experience in the use of Engineering Design & Problem Solving Tools (CATIA/Teamcenter/Digital Buck/GD&T/DFMEA/DMAIC/6-sigma).

     

    Experience in the use Analytical Tools (CAE/Moldflow).

     

    Experience with Complex Systems, Injection Molding, and Secondary Tooling.

     

    Detail-oriented ability to collect, compile and analyze data for communication to other teams.

     

    Strong oral and written communication skills, Team oriented.

     

    Self-driven, highly motivated, and accepting to new challenges.

     

    Demonstrated delivery of results.

    This position is a range of salary grades SG5-SG8.
