    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The role of the Stipend Specialist leads and takes ownership of the HCA resident and fellow stipend program. This position communicates extensively with physicians and key stakeholders regarding all aspects of the stipend program, including but not limited to overseeing compliance processes, ensuring that physicians are meeting all requirements of their stipend contracts and that all necessary documentation is completed, verified, and appropriately recorded in internal tracking systems, such as Salesforce. Associate plays a pivotal role in stipend screening committee, functioning as the committee chair, including presentation of stipend applicants and post-apply notification processes, inclusive of managing physician contracts.

    DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Manages the full scope and day to day operation of the HCA Stipend Program.

    • Interacts with multiple groups across HCA – including Physician Recruitment personnel and leadership, Group Vice Presidents of Operations, service line leaders, stipend screening committee members, corporate legal, Income Guarantee Administration, accounting, treasury, and many others – and coordinates activities and resources among these corporate functions in the administration of the HCA Stipend Program.

    • Manages the stipend application process including interest forms, application submissions, application processing, background checks, and preparation of application materials for screening committee review.

    • Communicates extensively with internal stakeholders as applicants move through the stipend application process and leverages systems (i.e. Optimum) to enhance communication with stakeholders.

    • Communicates extensively with physicians regarding all aspects of the stipend program.

    • Manages the preparation, approval, delivery, and processing of different types of contracts including stipend agreements, and settlement agreements, along with Amortization Schedules.

    • Assists physician recruitment team in the placement of stipend physicians by reviewing monthly recruitment reports, identifying divisional physician needs, connecting stipend physicians with divisional recruitment team(s), and facilitating communication with stipend physicians regarding HCA practice opportunities.

    • Oversees compliance processes and ensures that physicians are meeting all requirements of their stipend contracts and that all necessary documentation is completed, verified, and appropriately recorded in internal tracking systems.

    • Administers the enforcement of stipend repayments, including receiving and tracking repayment checks, preparing monthly payment statements, communicating with physicians, corporate legal, and outside legal counsel, recording and communicating payments received in internal tracking systems in partnership with Income Guarantee Administration Program.

    • Delivers an unparallel resident and fellow experience that positively represents HCA Healthcare’s brand and mission.

    • Supports day to day financial operation of the stipend program through tracking and reporting of stipend program investment.

    • Develops processes for monitoring compliance of physicians with stipend program terms, and works to facilitate placement of stipend physicians with HCA to reduce and/or prevent breaches of stipend program contract terms.

    • Corresponds regularly and works closely with corporate legal counsel and outside legal counsel on legal matters related to the stipend program.

    • Develops processes for improving efficiency in management of the stipend program and coordinates any stipend related activities of the other Strategic Outreach Specialists.

    • Maintains detailed reporting on the stipend program, including but not limited to financial/budget reporting, and reports regularly on the stipend program to HCA leadership.

    • Exercises appropriate judgment in communicating with internal and external contacts about the stipend program and maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

    • Utilizes knowledge of regulations on physician/hospital/healthcare system relationships and physician recruitment processes in continuous improvement of stipend program.

    • Serves as a liaison between Strategic Outreach and various service line leaders within HCA.

    • Travels as needed to various cities in the U.S. to assist with Resident Events/Seminars and job fairs.

    • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.”

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and five years related experience and/or training

    • MBA, MHA or other Master’s degree preferred
