Union Hospital offers a wide range of surgical services. Whether patients require a minimally invasive procedure or major surgery, the surgical teams provide patients with excellent care. The Surgery Center is equipped with the latest surgical and monitoring tools, allowing caregivers to perform a diverse array of procedures in general, orthopaedic, eye, gynecologic, head and neck, oral and maxillofacial, podiatric, urologic and vascular surgery.
By joining the Perioperative Services team as an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will assist the Surgery and Perioperative managers in developing and implementing quality metrics, leader rounds, participate in shift huddles, attend committee meetings, assist with onboarding and training, and complete audits and chart reviews for compliance. You will interact daily with RNs from various surgical departments as well as Surgical Services Techs, Physicians, Anesthesia, and Advanced Practice Providers. The ideal caregiver for this role should possess strong communication and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to be directed by and work with leaders on top of being self-driven. By taking on this role, your decisions will impact efficiency and patient throughput and help to improve patient care and safety.
A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 7:00AM - 3:30PM or 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
+ Provide direction and support to the unit staff and supervises admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.
+ Evaluate and document patient progress.
+ Facilitate the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.
+ Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
+ Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization.
+ Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.
+ Prepare schedule of work assignments to ensure adequate coverage.
+ Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
+ Participate in departments and committees as assigned.
+ Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
+ Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
+ Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
+ Two years of recent clinical nurse experience
+ Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills; good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organization skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - if you do not hold these certifications, you must obtain them within one year of hire
+ Two years of perioperative nursing experience
Physical Requirements:
+ Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
+ Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
+ Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
+ Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $76,540.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $116,747.50
The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
