WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a hands-on, innovative, highly experienced product leader to work at the convergence of perception science, sensory neuroscience and cognitive science to create the future of sport.
You will have strong business acumen, with an ability to discern, and drive, the highest impact projects through a highly complex, matrixed organization to introduce innovative, commercially impactful products into the marketplace.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As the Senior Director Mind Sciences Research, you will drive cohesion, create vision and develop strategy across the three pillars of perception science, sensory neuroscience and cognitive science. You will create the opportunity landscape through careful evaluation, and selection, of projects providing recommendations for where the NSRL should focus resources. You will drive product focus on sensory experiences and create strong emotional connections with customers through your understanding of applied science. As a creative catalyst for new product innovation, you will lead teams of scientists and apply scientific knowledge and insights to drive commercial growth for Nike.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
+ You will be the expert and influence creative product teams across our Innovation, Design and Product Creation functions at Nike
+ You will drive engagement with leadership at different points in the spectrum of product development, from those looking to understand athlete perception, sensory and cognitive science opportunities, to teams that have ideas and solutions in mind
+ You will be influence product “solutioning” in collaboration with a variety of teams including, but not limited to, innovation, product development, and technology
+ You will be responsible for storytelling around program progress, and provide impactful insights with a variety of Nike senior leaders
+ You will lead scientists on the team in a portfolio of work and partner with research experts in the field, and around the world, to help inform and execute your portfolio of work
WHAT YOU BRING
+ Ph.D. in kinesiology, biomechanics, neuroscience. or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
+ 10+ years of experience in product innovation and development preferably in the CPG or food sciences industries
+ 7+ years in a leadership/management role
+ Experience in creation of a vision and strategy with respect to implementation of perception science, sensory neuroscience and cognitive science insights, capabilities and knowledge to product concepts
+ Strong commercial acumen with an ability to define value, quantify ROI and identify high impact products
+ A proven track record of applying scientific knowledge and insights to products or services
+ Experience as a catalyst for new product innovation
+ Open and able to work effectively with creative and technical product teams across the IDP (Innovation, Design and Product) teams and Nike
+ Skilled and experienced in communicating scientific research, insights and storytelling internally with both scientists, non-scientists, and externally facing at conferences and with the external media
