    Job Title: Quality Analyst IJob Description

     

    Join our team as a Quality Analyst I, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of food products. You will be responsible for collecting and testing samples, conducting quality checks, and maintaining lab equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a close-knit team environment with room for growth.

    Responsibilities

    + Collect and test samples of ingredients, products, or packages according to established procedures.

    + Conduct testing including pH, viscosity, titrations, product color via colorimeter, density, acid, salt, and sensory evaluation of product—taste, aroma, and appearance versus control sample.

    + Perform quality checks on the production floor, including verifying the accuracy of unit codes and case codes, ensuring the proper application of unit labels and case labels, weighing samples, conducting metal detector checks, and performing periodic inspections to maintain sanitary conditions.

    + Monitor processes to ensure they are operating correctly and consistently.

    + Document all results neatly and precisely.

    + Label and maintain product retention samples to monitor the product throughout its established shelf life.

    + Organize collected data for management review.

    + Maintain lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.

    + Communicate non-compliant results immediately to management.

    + Monitor plant for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

    + Accurately weigh ingredients, colors, flavorings, and seasonings.

    + Test Research & Development samples for food safety and specification development.

    + Conduct other duties as assigned by the plant QA Supervisor or QA Manager.

    Essential Skills

    + Wet chemistry

    + Quality lab technician experience

    + Quality assurance

    + Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Science, or one year of wet chemistry lab experience for non-degreed candidates.

    Work Environment

    The candidate needs to be comfortable working in a loud lab environment with strong food smells. The lab culture is team-oriented with a family feel. The lab is small, and the candidate will work alongside a few other technicians and report to the supervisor. The dress code is casual; most wear a t-shirt and jeans. A lab coat will be issued upon hiring. Jewelry, watches, false eyelashes, fingernail polish, plastic bobby pins, or similar items are not permitted. The position operates on a 2nd Shift Weekend schedule (Friday - Sunday, 3:30 PM - 4:00 AM). The largest food and beverage company in Central Ohio offers a close-knit team environment, multiple sites across Columbus, opportunities for growth, and team celebrations for birthdays and holidays.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
