The Patient Access Representative serves as the initial point of contact for patients and their families. This prominent role involves direct interaction with patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring the accuracy of demographic, insurance, payment, and other critical patient information. The representative resolves inquiries, addresses scheduling issues, and delivers exceptional service. By supporting the medical care team, this position enhances patient flow, satisfaction, and appointment efficiency, significantly impacting both the revenue cycle and the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
+ Check patients in and out for medical visits.
+ Answer phone calls to address patient inquiries and schedule appointments.
+ Assist patients with enrolling and utilizing MyChart.
+ Enter, update, and validate patient demographic, insurance, and financial information for accurate registration.
+ Communicate important information and details to the medical care team.
+ Contact insurance companies regarding coverage, pre-approvals, billing, and other issues.
+ Collect and process patient payments for visit copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and prior balances.
+ Assist with the completion of various types of paperwork and forms.
+ Work effectively with EPIC workques, worklists, and in-basket messages.
+ Schedule referrals and follow-up visits.
+ Accurately and promptly scan documents into EPIC.
Essential Skills
+ High School Equivalent / GED.
+ 1+ years of customer service experience.
+ Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
+ Multitasking capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 1+ years of customer service experience in healthcare (Preferred).
Work Environment
This position involves a fast-paced work environment, requiring the ability to handle situations involving medical procedures, trauma, and bodily fluids without discomfort. Training begins in the Emergency Room, with subsequent rotations across various locations, including the Emergency Department, outpatient, and registration areas. Representatives will rotate between four locations in Lorain County—Elyria, two locations in Avon, and one in Amherst—all within eight miles of each other. The role demands being on your feet for most shifts in the Emergency Department. Shifts are 8.5 hours long on the 1st shift with variable hours starting between 5:00 am and 11:00 am, Monday through Friday, rotating a minimum of every third weekend, with possible afternoon shifts on weekends.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elyria, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr.
