Job Title: Electrical Design EngineerJob Description

Join a dynamic manufacturing company specializing in producing custom street sweepers. This role focuses on interpreting wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical systems on vehicles, ensuring seamless design changes for various body styles based on chassis size.

Responsibilities

+ Read and interpret wiring diagrams for vehicle electrical systems.

+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues in electrical systems.

+ Collaborate with the team to incorporate feedback and ensure effective design solutions.

+ Work with diagnostic tools such as multi-meters and test lights.

+ Perform wire harness design, documentation, and build harnesses for testing.

+ Create harness drawings and schematics using Visio/Solidworks Electrical.

+ Convert older drawings to meet current industry standards.

+ Create new part files using CAD systems, including creating assemblies and drawings.

+ Provide support for on-vehicle testing, prototyping, and production.

+ Collaborate with the manufacturing team to take measurements and observe machines.

Essential Skills

+ 3+ years of experience in designing and troubleshooting electrical components in a manufacturing environment.

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

+ Familiarity with electrical systems for low voltage DC applications (12V, 24V).

+ Ability to size wiring, fuses, and components based on circuit and industry requirements.

+ Comfort with on-vehicle testing and production support.

+ Experience with diagnostic tools like multi-meters and test lights.

+ Proficiency in wire harness design and documentation.

+ Experience with CAD systems for creating part files, assemblies, and drawing files.

+ Knowledge of ladder logic and function block programming.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with heavy industrial equipment design or automotive experience.

+ Experience with Codesys software and IFM hardware.

+ 3D routing experience.

+ Experience converting older drawings to meet current standards.

Work Environment

This role involves both work in the engineering lab and on the manufacturing floor. Engineers will not only work behind a desk but will also engage actively by taking measurements, observing machines, and collaborating with the manufacturing team. The engineering design lab fosters a collaborative and feedback-driven environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
