Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer IJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineer I plays a crucial role as a problem-solver, facilitator, change agent, innovator, designer, and project manager. This position requires addressing issues as they arise and supporting technicians, maintenance, and tool and die personnel with less complex technical matters. The role involves 60% on-floor implementation of projects and 40% office time for project planning.

Responsibilities

+ Implement and manage manufacturing projects on the floor.

+ Support technicians, maintenance, and tool and die personnel with technical issues.

+ Facilitate continuous improvement processes and change process flow.

+ Conduct time studies and evaluate large data sets.

+ Design and manage the layout of equipment and robotic welding cells.

+ Engage in value stream mapping and lean Six Sigma initiatives.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology.

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, project, or equipment management.

+ Proficiency in hydraulics.

+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Knowledge of the Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) or similar work measurement systems.

+ Experience in 3D design and metalworking.

+ Previous automotive experience.

+ Experience with OEM and CAD.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large manufacturing facility where sheet metal is used to produce shelving units. The facility is older, with some outdated equipment, and can be noisy due to fabrication and manufacturing lines. Engineers will primarily work on the floor alongside production support and manage projects. The team consists of 10 engineers with varying levels of experience. The position is a first shift opportunity, with hours from 7 AM to 4 PM. The company offers a flexible work schedule, casual dress code, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middlebury, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.33 - $45.67/hr.
