Job Title: Soy Sauce Production Operator

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Soy Sauce Production Operator, where you will play a crucial role in the production and packaging of soy sauce. This position involves working in a fast-paced, process-driven environment that requires a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

+ Work in the Filling area with soy sauce tanks and mixtures or in the Press department to press soy sauce out of soybeans.

+ Consistently be on your feet monitoring equipment and handling tasks related to large vat soy sauce production.

+ Perform quality control procedures as the machine is running and conduct inspections when machines are stopped.

+ Monitor equipment for manual adjustments and ensure product quality through regular checks.

+ Conduct quality checks every few minutes or every hour depending on the department, including monitoring temperature, pressure, speed, heat, and humidity.

+ Walk and climb stairs to manage processes from the second level and oversee elevator systems that transport soybeans.

+ Work autonomously in Transfer roles, requiring less manpower and attention from staff.

+ Participate in cleaning and housekeeping processes, being exposed to water and other elements of the production process.

Essential Skills

+ 1-2 years of experience in food production or a process manufacturing environment.

+ Experience in machine operation in a process environment.

+ Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.

+ Ability to read gauges and document readings accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with forklift operation, GMP, inventory management, CNC machine, manual machinery, pallet jack, calibration, mixing, and batching.

+ Comfortable working in hot, humid, and muggy environments.

+ Ability to work early schedules and overtime as needed.

+ Not afraid of heights or working on elevated, metal graded surfaces.

Work Environment

Our facility is fast-paced and requires collaboration among team members to meet production goals. The environment is hot, humid, and damp due to the soy sauce production process, with a strong smell of soy sauce. Candidates must be comfortable with exposure to mold, as it is part of the fermentation process. Uniforms are provided, and old clothes are recommended due to the smell. Flexibility in job duties and mandatory overtime are expected. This role is not suitable for individuals with allergies to soybeans, wheat, peanut butter, sesame, mustard, koji (mold), or MSG.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Henrico, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
