By joining us as a Sr. RF/Communications Engineer, you’ll provide design and engineering execution of small/medium/large projects, represent Jacobs at our clients, and work with internal and external staff.
You’ll receive guidance from our Regional Manager of Systems & Technology and coordinate with the communications, electrical, and other subject matter experts located in diverse offices to complete the project’s requirements. We’ll ask you to be responsible for design and implementation of technology-based systems on a design-bid-build, design build, or turnkey basis.
As a Sr. RF/Communications Engineer, you will also have the opportunity us with the day-to-day execution of project plans, schedules and budgets. You’ll also be asked to assist with the monitoring and reporting of project progress, development of project invoices and development of project deliverables. In addition, the position includes responsibility to pursue business development opportunities, lead development of project bids including development of technical proposals, schedules and budgets.
Required Prior Experience:
•BS or MS in communications, electrical engineering.
•A minimum of 15 years of post-graduate years of experience with demonstrated progression of responsibility including design, engineering, and implementation experience.
•Experience working with teams comprised of multiple technical disciplines to execute technical work plans while maintaining project budgets and schedules.
•Experience in RF installations and evaluating the clients’ field communication needs.
•Background in systems testing and commissioning.
•Knowledge of and practical working experience in the design and implementation of RF communications systems technologies and their applications.
•RF/Wireless infrastructure design and/or optimization experience supporting Radio (RF)/ Wireless systems with experience in LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi and/or LMR networks for above ground, in-building, and underground applications.
•Knowledge of and practical working experience with Microsoft Office productivity suite including Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.
•Knowledge of and practical working experience with software programs to include, but not limited to RF Modeling software such as iBwave, LMR Planner, EDX, etc.
•IBwave Design Certification (Level 2 minimum)
Beneficial Experience and Certifications:
•EIT or P.E.
•Network design experience supporting:
oRF - Tetra, 7/8/900, V/UHF Radio, 4/5G, etc.
oRF over Fiber designs
•Structured cabling infrastructure, grounding, telecommunications equipment room, and Data Center designs.
•Knowledge of and practical working experience with applicable codes, standards, and regulations to include IEEE, FCC, ADA, NEC, NFPA, and others as it pertains to communications systems designs.
•Primavera or other scheduling software, ProjectWise, SharePoint, or other web-based data sharing programs/applications,
Other Requirements:
•Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, have a vehicle available and have the ability to travel within the Northeast or as required.
•Candidate must be willing to travel on occasion and as required by the projects and adhere to Jacobs Policies and procedures.
•May occasionally be required to work outdoors in various geographic regions and in wide variety of weather conditions and facilities.
•May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment.
•May be required to traverse underground tunnel and railroad right of way environments.
•Candidate must recognize the need and be willing to work non-business hours as required. This may involve nights and weekends.
