    Job Description​

    The OB/Neonatal ICU inpatient Social Worker provides compassionate, patient-centered psychosocial support to parents and families receiving obstetric and neonatal inpatient care. This role focuses on addressing emotional, social, financial, and behavioral health needs that impact pregnancy, postpartum well-being, and family adjustment to the neonatal ICU. The Social Worker collaborates with physicians, nurses, behavioral health providers, state child protective service agencies and community agencies to promote optimal outcomes for both patients and infants.

    Shift:

    Sunday through Thursday 7:30-4:00

    OR

    Tuesday through Saturday 7:30-4:00

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Conduct psychosocial assessments for patients during pregnancy and postpartum periods.

    + Conducts family assessments with all families with infants in the Neonatal ICU.

    + Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and resource coordination for issues such as perinatal mood disorders, intimate partner violence, housing instability, or substance use.

    + Partner with obstetric providers to identify patients at risk and develop individualized care plans.

    + Facilitate referrals to community resources, including WIC, mental health services, domestic violence shelters, child protective service agencies, parenting programs, and financial assistance.

    + Support care continuity through coordination with inpatient clinic social workers, case management, and external agencies.

    + Document all patient interactions and interventions in the electronic medical record in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

    + Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives within the clinic hospital.

    + Provide education and support to staff regarding psychosocial needs during pregnancy, neonatal and postpartum care.

    Requirements:

    + Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.

    + Current state licensure as LMSW or LCSW (or equivalent).

    + Experience in healthcare, maternal-child health, child protective services or behavioral health settings.

    + Strong communication, crisis management, and case coordination skills.

    + Prior experience in an obstetric, women’s health, or neonatal setting preferred

    + Bilingual (Spanish/English or other languages) preferred.
