NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires 3 days a week in our Walnut Creek corporate office.
Job Summary
The Manager, Physical Security is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of physical security operations for AAA Mountain West Group “MWG” facilities across multiple states. This role ensures that all physical security systems, policies, and procedures are implemented effectively to protect people, property, and assets. The Physical Security Manager will have a strong background in facilities management, access control systems, and risk mitigation strategies specific to physical environments, including critical infrastructure, offices, data centers, fleet yards, and retail locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES
+ Facility Security Operations
+ Manage day-to-day physical security operations across all AAA Mountain West Group facilities, including branch offices, fleet service centers, and administrative buildings.
+ Conduct site assessments and audits to evaluate physical security risks and ensure compliance with corporate policies and local/state regulations.
+ Develop and oversee implementation of physical security standards for perimeter protection, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and emergency exits.
+ Coordinate with internal partners during construction, renovation, and relocation projects to integrate physical security design and infrastructure.
+ Lead security planning for new site build-outs and expansions, including security hardware specifications, contractor coordination, and system installation oversight.
+ Administer and maintain enterprise physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, visitor management and alarm systems.
+ Collaborate with IT and Facilities departments to ensure interoperability, cybersecurity, and uptime of security technologies.
+ Manage vendor relationships for equipment procurement, installation, maintenance, and support contracts.
+ Policy & Procedure Development
+ Develop, implement, and enforce physical security policies and standard operating procedures.
+ Ensure policies support compliance with applicable codes (e.g., fire safety, ADA) and support business continuity and emergency response efforts.
+ Conduct regular security drills and coordinate with emergency services to improve preparedness.
+ Leadership & Coordination
+ Supervise and mentor a team of security personnel; provide training, performance evaluations, and development plans.
+ Serve as the primary liaison for internal departments (Facilities, HR, Legal, Risk, etc.) on all matters related to facility security.
+ Work closely with the Threat Assessment Manager and Executive Protection teams to ensure integrated and aligned security posture across all domains
+ Partner with the Threat Assessment manager (TAM) to facilitate investigations into physical security breaches or facility-related incidents (e.g., vandalism, trespassing, equipment theft).
+ Coordinate corrective actions and follow-ups with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in physical layouts or operations through proactive planning and enhancements.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
+ In-depth knowledge of physical security systems and technologies, including access control, CCTV, alarms, and visitor management platforms.
+ Strong project management skills and the ability to manage large-scale facility security implementations.
+ Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, ADA, and other relevant codes related to facility and life safety.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to interface with senior leadership, external vendors, and public safety agencies.
+ High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
EDUCATION, COMPETENCIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
+ Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
+ 7-10 years of experience in physical security management, with a demonstrated focus on facilities protection.
+ Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience working in multi-site, corporate, or regional security environments
+ Professional certifications such as PSP (Physical Security Professional), CPP (Certified Protection Professional), or CFSM (Certified Facility Security Manager)

We target between minimum and midpoint of the range, and all offers are subject to a fair pay analysis - Compensation Range: Min: $129,234.00 - Mid: $161,542.00- Max: $193,849.00
