Overview
Microsoft Advertising (MSA) is seeking an Executive Communications Director to lead executive and employee communications for MSA’s senior leadership. In this role, you will serve as the principal architect and trusted advisor for all aspects of executive communications, shaping and amplifying the voice of leadership to advance Microsoft Advertising’s business objectives and culture.
You will partner closely with executives, business managers, and leadership teams to develop and execute internal and external communications strategies that clarify organizational vision and elevate Microsoft Advertsing’s purpose to innovate a new world of advertising possibilities to empower growth for all. The scope includes strategic narrative development, storytelling, employee and event engagement, social media leadership, and thought leadership positioning.
You will also lead the overall communications strategy for the executive office, ensuring alignment with team and organizational goals. This includes providing guidance to leadership teams and the executive communications community. Success in this role requires effective collaboration across the broader organization and with key partners including Product, Engineering, Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing. You should thrive in a team environment, deliver impactful results, and uphold the team’s commitment to integrity and trust. Discretion in handling confidential corporate information is essential.
This role reports to the Chief of Staff of Microsoft Advertising and works closely with all MSA leadership teams, in particular, our Corporate Vice President.

Responsibilities
Executive Voice, Platform, & Content Development
+ Develop and maintain executive voice and platform for our organization’s Corporate Vice President, ensuring consistency across messages and channels.
+ Craft strategic executive narratives, enhance reputation through content development, and manage executive social media presence.
+ Create internal and external exec communications materials including briefing documents, messaging, presentations, social media posts, and audience-facing content.
+ Coordinate media interviews, press statements, and public appearances in partnership with PR and Marketing teams.
Internal Communications & Events
+ Lead internal communications and events for the organization, supporting employee experience and culture including ad-hoc comms, ongoing newsletters, and town-halls.
+ Partner on crisis communications and contribute to leadership communications through best practices, message alignment, and idea sharing.
+ Manage a communications calendar aligned with the rhythm of business.
Strategic Advisory
+ Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive on communication strategy and positioning.
+ Monitor industry trends and provide insights to shape messaging and thought leadership.
+ Ensure messaging consistency across all platforms and audiences.
+ Build and nurture an inclusive communications community, fostering belonging, engagement, and collabor _ation_

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 8+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 12+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
+ 6+ years experience supporting executives in an executive communications or strategic storytelling role at global organizations.
+ 4+ years of experience independently managing cross-functional projects and communications.
+ Experience interfacing with c-level executives.
+ A track record of designing and implementing effective and efficient systems, processes, and tools for a communications team or function.
+ A strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to synthesize complex information, identify opportunities and challenges, and propose solutions and recommendations.

Communications IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
