*This is a benefited, full time position generally working 8-hr shifts Monday-Friday. No weekends or holidays. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines in La Jolla. You will float between the surgical specialties at this location. *

*Your job duties:*

* Rooming patients

* Checking vitals

* Assisting with procedures

* Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols

* Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis

* Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment

* Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice

* Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person

* Collecting patient data in person and by phone

* Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review

* Administering medications specifically directed by the physician

* Scheduling of appointments and procedures

* Complete and accurate message taking

* Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction

* Order and referral entry

* Acquisition of pre-certifications

* Setting up of cases in EPIC for appointments for clinical, lab, imaging and more

* Basic registration and updating of demographics

*Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:*

* Certified Medical Assistant or Military Corpsman, plus two years applicable clinical experience.

* Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.

* Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.

*Required Certification/Registration:*

* Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or Military Corpsman program pursuant to the Division of Allied Health Professions.

* American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required in clinical setting.

*Preferred skills and qualifications: *

* Experience in a orthopedic setting including sterile processing and procedures
