The Transportation Department is seeking an energetic, detail-driven Maintenance Scheduler / Planner to join our team. In this fast-paced role, you’ll navigate multiple software platforms, juggle competing priorities, and deliver top-tier customer service as the primary point of contact for all maintenance requests routed through the Sarasota County Contact Center.

About This Role
+ Organize and schedule the development and implementation of daily, weekly, or long-range strategic preventative, predictive and scheduled maintenance plans.
+ Organize and coordinate the daily corrective and emergency maintenance requests by shifting and reprioritizing existing schedules.
+ Develop repair plans for maintenance divisions by reviewing work orders to clarify intent with originators.
+ Research using maps, road inventories, property records, and GIS to determine maintenance responsibilities.
+ Contact customers to gather additional information if required or when referral to another work unit including multi-craft jobs with other Business Units or outside services/ vendors prior to commencement of work.
+ Enters labor, materials and equipment used on work orders in work management system once the work is completed.
+ Assist with monitoring, analysis/ assessing effectiveness, and efficiency of all aspects of work performed and recommend adjustments to job and safety plans.
+ Assist the Operational Managers with accessing, compiling, and organizing data to generate reports in a clear and concise manner and workload priorities.
+ Frequently communicate with managers and crew leaders regarding emergency situations.
+ Conduct weekly meetings with Operational Managers to review forecasted scheduling requirements and to evaluate the effectiveness of existing job plans.
+ Collaborate with CMS team to strive for and attain goals set by team to assist in overall effectiveness of the computer management system.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
About You:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Planning, Industrial/ Engineering technology or related field AND two (2) years of job-related experience
+ -OR- Six (6) years professional experience can be substituted at management discretion
+ -OR- Related professional program/ project management may substitute for the required education
+ Valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of hire
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything Else:
Pay Range: $56,139.20 - $62,000.00/ annually , based on experience
