    Engineer, Process (Utilities)

    As an **Engineer, Process** , you will be responsible for ensuring efficient and reliable operation of all Utilities systems by providing technical support, process optimization, and leadership in continuous improvement. The role safeguards safety, health, environment, and quality standards while driving cost efficiency and operational excellence. You will act as a key technical resource for utilities, collaborating across departments (Engineering, Maintenance, Fermentation) and leading initiatives that enhance plant performance and sustainability.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Operational Excellence & Cost Optimization

    + Develop systems to drive operational excellence, value generation, and cost improvements.

    + Monitor, analyze, and interpret process data to identify optimization opportunities.

    + Technical Troubleshooting & Reliability

    + Lead and facilitate process troubleshooting.

    + Assist staff in establishing predictive/preventive maintenance programs.

    + Resolve or coordinate resources to address technical and operational issues.

    + Project Management & Improvement

    + Conceive, plan, and recommend proposals for operations optimization.

    + Manage small capital projects and serve as a resource for larger projects.

    + Lead IT and support automation initiatives for Utilities systems.

    + Compliance & Documentation

    + Ensure adherence to equipment/material specifications and change control processes.

    + Maintain accurate documentation (P&ID CAD drawings, redlines, PSM, SOPs, ISO).

    + Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ)

    + Implement SHEQ policy compliance within the work group.

    + Lead investigations of safety/environmental incidents, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

    + Participate in HAZOP and pre-startup safety reviews.

    + Promote DSM Life Saving Rules and maintain current SHE training.

    + Team Engagement & Knowledge Sharing

    + Maintain presence in operating areas and accessibility to team members.

    + Provide coaching and technical training to operations personnel.

    + Assemble data, generate KPI reports and PI dashboards.

    + Drive improvement ideas and align with stakeholders.

    + Other duties assigned by Belvidere leadership.

    You Bring:

    + BS in Engineering or relevant technical discipline required;

    + 1-2 years relevant experience required, preferably in the chemical/pharmaceutical industry.

    + Must demonstrate expertise in continuous improvement discipline in which work is performed and have familiarity with other areas/fields depending on assignment.

    + Must have good communications skills, ability to present ideas effectively and have the ability to manage multiple projects and work in a team environment.

    + Where necessary, should be knowledgeable in the operation of process control instruments and systems.

    + Must be available to support shift, weekend and holiday schedules as required.

    + Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including but not limited to field inspection and evaluation of process equipment, systems and facilities.

     

    The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary Range: $64,300 - $91,500.

     

    In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs and a broad range of other benefits. All benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements.
