    Minimum Qualifications:

    An associate’s degree from a college or university and/or two (2) years of professional experience in election administration, governmental or election work, customer service, administrative services or a related field.

     

    Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

    Hourly Salary - $20.00/Hour

    Part Time – 20-30 Hours

    This is a part time position. This position is not eligible for remote work.

    General Summary:

    This is a highly responsible professional position that involves planning, coordinating, and executing secret ballot elections throughout the State of Florida. These elections are conducted when public employees formally express an interest in union representation. The role requires strict adherence to legal standards and procedural integrity to ensure fair and impartial election outcomes. The incumbent must demonstrate a thorough understanding of labor relations, election protocols, and administrative processes while working closely with public sector employers, employee organizations, and other stakeholders.

    Examples of Work Performed:

    This position will serve as a back-up to all the full-time positions in the Election’s Office and be able to perform all the following duties when needed including:

    • Planning, coordinating, and executing public sector labor elections throughout the State of Florida when public employees express the desire to be represented or unrepresented by a union. Assists in the establishment of a sound election procedure that is consistent with the Commission’s elections procedures and rules.

    • Participates in pre-election conferences concerning eligibility lists, determination of appropriateness of respective parties, elections observers, campaign issues, voter release time, and other election-related issues or problems.

    • Maintains all cost records for elections, computes charges owed by each party, and issues bills accordingly.

    • Attend secret ballot elections to solve any problems, supervise poll clerks, and conduct voting tallies.

    • Instructs poll clerks and observers as to their responsibilities in an election.

    • Serves as liaison between employees, employee organizations, and public employers.

    • Drafts various types of orders issued by the Commission.

    • Investigates results or the validity of the election, when so directed.

    • Replies to verbal or written complaints or requests concerning an election and verifies and certifies all items related to an election.

    • Drafts reports and consults with general counsel and staff to assess and resolve operational issues

    • File election materials and maintain supplies.

    • Travel throughout the State of Florida when necessary to perform job duties pertaining to public sector elections.

    • Performs related work and other duties as needed or required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of the basic principles of labor relations, or an ability to quickly learn and adapt to the principles and practices.

    • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.

    • Proficient in the following applications: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow, and perform other activities relating to labor relations and practices.

    • Ability to organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.

    • Strong written and oral communication skills.

    • Strong proofreading and editing skills.

    • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.

    • Knowledge of Travel procedures,

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

    • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to labor relations functions.

    • Ability to identify, plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple large work assignments at the same time.

    • Ability to conduct fact-finding research and prepare reports.

    Other Job-Related Requirements:

    • Must be able to work various hours, weekends, or shifts when needed outside of the normal workday (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) to accomplish job duties pertaining to public sector elections.

    • Must be able to lift and carry 40-50 lbs and travel independently or with others.

    • Must be able to pass a level 2 background check.

    • A valid Florida Driver's License is required.
