Job Summary
The Accounting Office Associate provides financial, administrative, and operational support across the district, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, timely reporting, and consistent support for our Micro-Market/Avenue C business. This entry-level role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to develop within a fast-paced environment across three branches.
Responsibilities
General Accounting & Office Support
+ Process daily, weekly, and monthly financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, and general ledger entries.
+ Review and reconcile vendor invoices; route for approval and ensure timely payment.
+ Support period-end close activities through data entry, journal preparation, and report verification.
+ Maintain accurate financial records and support compliance with Compass internal controls.
+ Generate and distribute operational and financial reports (sales, inventory, labor, etc.).
+ Provide administrative support to the Office Manager and Finance Manager for the Madison, Belvidere, and Dubuque branches.
+ Respond to inquiries from managers, route drivers, and vendors promptly and professionally.
+ Assist with inventory processes and reconcile variances.
Avenue C / Micro-Market Responsibilities
+ Manage the administrative duties associated with Micro-Markets/Avenue C operations.
+ Provide administrative support across the entire district (Madison, Belvidere, and Dubuque).
+ Record daily cash collections in the Market system; investigate and reconcile any discrepancies.
+ Review daily Market inventory reports; research anomalies, over/short issues, and inventory concerns.
+ Manage the weekly close process for Markets.
+ Enter weekly POs and M&E transactions into the system.
+ Assist the Operations team with Market price book updates.
+ Support additional Market-related duties as needed.
Qualifications
+ Associate’s degree, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Ability to analyze data, investigate discrepancies, and support field operations.
+ Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally across multiple branches.
+ Prior accounting, administrative, or office experience preferred but not required.
