Technical Engineer

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is looking for a Technical Process Engineer to primarily drive new product/new equipment development efforts as well as continuous improvement initiatives within the production process.

Responsibilities:

+ Analyze process and performance parameters to improve product efficiency and output. Must be able to set up systems to collect and analyze data as well as implement data-driven solutions.

+ Manage the implementation of any process changes.

+ Develop processing parameters for new products

+ Develop quality specs for all new products.

+ Managing and/or assisting Technical Manager with new developmental projects.

+ Investigate processing and quality problems and implement data-driven solutions.

+ Assist and lead Lean/Kaizen/Six Sigma process and projects.

+ Set-up, coordinate, and monitor SYR (sample yarn run) trials; Also manage the SYR System

+ Lead, assist, and/or support continuous quality improvement efforts.

+ Provide engineering and troubleshooting support to all departments as needed.

+ Act as a resource of technical knowledge about the process for other plant departments

+ Comply with procedures found in SMS and Job Requirement Books.

+ Perform all job duties using safe work methods.

+ Comply with Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.

+ Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as needed.

+ Effectively communicate and help enforce department standards for associates.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by Department Manager as needed

Requirements:

+ Must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering

+ Lean 6 Sigma certification or willingness to complete

+ Must possess good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

+ Must be able to work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed. Ability to travel as needed (10-25% travel maximum estimated)
