    Job Description

    Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic and Student Services, Early Care and Education, this advising position will support prospective and current students enrolled in the Early Care and Education (ECE) online degree completion program within the University of Washington’s College of Education. This position requires strong people skills, a desire to build relationships with prospective and current students in our online program, as well as, excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail and the ability to carefully track student progress. Our undergraduate student body is vibrant and diverse, and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in providing direct support to prospective and current students in a higher education setting.

     

    This role is remote with occasional required in-person meetings and events on the UW-Seattle campus and in the community. This is a 50% FTE, temporary position that can last up to one year in duration.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    + To support current ECE students, in collaboration with AD of Advising & Student Services:

    + Advise and counsel newly admitted and current ECE students on undergraduate degree requirements, maintain student plan-of-study documents, and assist students with registration.

    + Provide information and guidance to ECE students to resolve unique problems or situations; liaise with Continuum College, Office of the Registrar, Office of Student Financial Aid, and other student service units as appropriate

    + Attend weekly instructor meetings and collaborate with instructors to assist students in need of additional support with course requirements. Provide intensive, high-touch advising and coaching to students in need of additional support.

    + Participate in team projects such as orientation and application and scholarship review.

    + Assist with ECE events, including ECE Welcome Event and ECE Senior Presentations.

    + Manage course registration requests for ECE and ISS students.

    + Co-manage data related to admissions, registration, retention, and graduation, including survey data

    + As needed, assist Lead Admissions & Outreach Adviser in fielding inquiries from prospective students, including answering questions and providing appropriate resources, tools, and support for applying to the ECE program

    + Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor's degree, to include a minimum of three years of experience working with students in a recruiting, advising or counseling capacity in a higher education setting.

    Additional Requirements

    + Ability to use office productivity tools and communication tools (e.g. Outlook, SharePoint, Google Apps)

    + Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment with diverse employees and student/customer groups.

    + Demonstrated ability to create working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.

    + Demonstrated ability to maintain records; attention to detail

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Knowledge of the field of education as a discipline of study.

    + Familiarity with policies and procedures of the University of Washington, Washington State Community and Technical College system, and/or other institutions of higher education.

     

    Pay Rate Information

     

    The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for part-time.
