Overview
The Commercial Building Handyman is responsible for maintaining the physical condition and appearance of the site, including fixed and portable equipment, and ensuring a safe environment for the facility. This role supports the implementation and documentation of site safety plans and adheres to ABM Engineering operational standards, as well as site specific policies and procedures.
Pay: $33.75 per hour.
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Pay Rate will be $34.88/hour (effective January 2026)

Shifts:
+ 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Friday/Saturday off or 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Sunday/Monday of
Essential Functions:
Basic Qualifications:
+ Diagnose and perform minor and routine maintenance/repairs, including:
+ Electrical (interior/exterior lighting)
+ Plumbing
+ Heating and air conditioning systems (proper certification may be required)
+ Appliances
+ Carpentry and wall repair/painting
+ Water irrigation systems
+ Stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings, gutters, pool areas, tile, spa, pool furniture
+ Flooring (tile, carpet) o Fireplaces, ceiling fans, shutters, doors, cabinets, windows
+ Door locks, P.O. boxes and locks
+ Water intrusion repairs
+ Concrete, masonry, roof, and fencing repairs
+ Perform limited extermination services when required
+ Assist with grounds work when necessary
+ Provide highest quality of service to tenants, staff, and visitors
+ Complete move-in/move-out inspections and ensure timely completion of work orders
+ Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance and service requests
+ Perform routine preventive maintenance of equipment
+ Inspect and maintain all tools in excellent condition
+ Correct unsafe conditions immediately (e.g., broken gates, steps, open holes, burned-out lights)
+ Participate in standby emergency schedule for evenings, weekends, and holidays
+ Assist in snow removal when necessary
+ Maintain regular and on-time attendance
Physical Requirements:
+ Constant standing and/or walking
+ Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs/ladders, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulders
+ Frequent grasping and use of finger dexterity
Education/Experience:
+ Related experience preferred
+ EPA Certification required for handling refrigerants
+ Knowledgeable and skilled in safe use and maintenance of:
+ **Hand Tools:** Wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, saws, etc.
+ **Power Tools:** Grinder, sander, drill, saws, etc.
+ **User-Moving Aids:** Wheelbarrows, dollies, hand trucks, ladders
+ **Mechanical Equipment:** Basic knowledge of motor equipment such as power washers, blowers, compressors.
