    Research Lab Specialist Senior (Term Limited)

    Job Summary

    The candidate will lead development and implementation of clinical research in epilepsy patients. Initially, the project will be to test the use of High Frequency Oscillations in clinical decision making among clinicians. The goal is to submit an NIH proposal to perform this study long term, with the applicant managing the study. Future studies are also expected to begin, in particular using evoked potentials in epilepsy patients during their hospital stay. The applicant will help design, manage, and write grants for these studies.

     

    This position is term limited to 18 months and may be extended depending on funding.

    Responsibilities*

    With oversight by Dr. William Stacey, the primary responsibilities of this position are to 1) manage the HFO study, including data collection and analysis; 2) assist with grant writing to obtain NIH funding to perform this study long term; 3) help design a study for evoked potentials in epilepsy; 4) manage IRB submissions for both of these studies. Additional responsibilities include developing familiarity with relevant scientific literature and participation in the development of the best experimental approaches to pursue the scientific goals. The candidate will primarily be using computers to perform work duties. The candidate will be expected to assist in writing manuscripts, primarily by generation of figures and plots.

    Required Qualifications*

    + PhD or similar in a scientific field such as neuroscience, life sciences, mathematics, engineering, or physics.

    + Minimum 5 years of related experience, i.e., published in a field of specialty and academic knowledge in a field or discipline.

    + Skilled in computer programming and Matlab.

    + Experience with IRB protocols and writing.

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.     Additional Information

    **This position is term limited to 18 months** and may be extended depending on funding. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and you will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.

     

    Background Screening
