Position Description:
Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory conducting specified phases of research projects. Performs work independently and is responsible for developing new procedures and techniques to be utilized in the laboratory and in experiments, and new applications for standard procedures and techniques. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic or other potentially harmful substances. Responsibilities also include ensuring overall cleanliness of the laboratory and laboratory equipment, and ordering and maintaining an adequate stock of necessary supplies. May instruct or direct work of subordinate laboratory personnel. Supports translational and preclinical research projects in oncology drug discovery and therapeutic development. The lab investigates small-molecule and peptide-based modulators targeting oncogenic signaling pathways, tumor microenvironment, hormone resistance, and immune evasion. P

Major/Essential Functions:
+ Conduct western blotting, ELISA, and immunoprecipitation assays to study drug–target engagement and pathwayinhibition. Perform RNA/protein isolation, qRT-PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, and transient/stable gene manipulation incancer cell lines. Culture 2D and 3D cancer spheroid models, including lentiviral/siRNA-mediated knockdowns and drug synergy studies.
+ Conduct immunofluorescence staining and digital imaging using confocal microscopy to assess subcellular localizationand phenotypic markers.
+ Perform live-cell imaging and apoptotic/mitotic readouts (Annexin V, TUNEL, Ki-67, H2AX, etc.).
+ Assist in establishing xenograft, syngeneic, and orthotopic tumor models for breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and gliomastudies. Conduct drug administration (IP/SC/PO), tumor measurement, survival tracking, necropsy, tissue collection, andhistological preparation. Support pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) sample processing and biomarkerevaluation.
+ Maintain cell line inventory, animal colony genotyping, reagent preparation, and equipment calibration. Guide juniorlab members in standard operating procedures and contribute to manuscript and figure preparation. Uphold lab safety,IACUC, and biosafety protocols.
+ Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
+ Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.).
+ Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability,Integrity, Advancement and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Laboratory experience, ideally in a translational oncology or therapeutic development setting.
+ Proficiency in mammaliancell culture, western blotting, nucleic acid analysis, and fluorescence microscopy.
+ Willingness and eligibility to work withmouse tumor models and BSL-2 viral vectors.
+ Experience with targeted therapy or drug resistance models (e.g., GRantagonists, Midkine inhibitors, LIFR pathway).
+ Familiarity with survival surgery for PDX or syngeneic tumorimplantation and IVIS/bioluminescence imaging.
+ Skilled in scientific software (ImageJ/Fiji, GraphPad Prism, AdobeIllustrator, FlowJo).
+ Strong organizational and data management skills with attention to reproducibility and rigor.
