Overview
The Lead Data Privacy Counsel (Services Team) is the escalation point for complex service engagements and high‑profile negotiations. This role designs and refines GDPO processes for client-facing initiatives, delivers advanced training on privacy laws and Groupe requirements, and coordinates with senior leaders on strategic services programs.
Responsibilities
+ DPA Escalations & Negotiations: Own escalations and negotiate complex data protection terms with priority clients; align with the Global Data Privacy Policy.
+ Process & Procedures (Services): Develop and enhance GDPO processes for client engagements (contracting, risk reviews, incident readiness) in partnership with privacy operations and our global security office.
+ Advanced Training & Education: Lead training on evolving privacy laws and GDPO requirements for client leadership, account teams, and operations.
+ Senior-Leader Coordination: Partner with agency executives and GDPO leadership on client-facing privacy strategy and governance.
+ Program Governance: Drive compliance measurement and reporting for services and marketing initiatives; mentor legal counsel on negotiation playbooks and standards.
Qualifications
+ Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with a state bar.
+ Minimum of 10 years practicing law, and minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy law, preferably with experience in the digital advertising industry.
+ In-depth knowledge of privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex privacy concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
+ Personable, team player and willing to take on new challenges as both the privacy landscape and the Groupe’s services evolve.
+ Certification such as CIPP/US is a plus.
