The Senior Director, Chief Nursing Officer will serve as the executive nursing leader overseeing Scott Hill Medical Center Hospital. The Sr Director Chief Nursing Officer is an executive leader responsible for overseeing all nursing practices within the Medical center. This role provides strategic direction, administration, and clinical leadership to ensure high-quality patient care, nursing efficiency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with the medical center and Novant Health’s mission, vision and values. Reporting directly to the facility President & COO, with matrix reporting to the Market CNO, the Sr Director CNO role focuses on aligning facility nursing practices with the broader health system’s standards and goals while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. The CNO is an essential member of the facility’s leadership team, supporting both facility-level operations and system-wide strategies for nursing excellence.

What You'll Do
•
Strategic Leadership and Alignment
+ Develop, implement and maintain nursing policies and practices that reflect the values and goals of the broader health system while addressing the unique needs of the facility. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
+ Collaborate with other CNOs, Directors of Nursing and other system executives/senior leaders to ensure consistency in nursing standards, protocols, and quality metrics across the health system.
+ Contribute to the development of system-wide nursing strategies and participate in executive meetings to represent facility interests within the health system
+ Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to clinical staff, and monitors competency and compliance.
+ Helps identify and implement best clinical practices and workflows across the organization.
+ Participates with senior leadership and physician champions in developing and implementing the system’s plan for providing patient care consistent with the system’s mission, goals, values and strategic plans.

Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
+ Oversee nursing department budgets, staffing, and resource allocation, balancing facility needs with the integrated health system’s efficiency goals
+ Develop and manage budgets for nursing operations, participating in system-wide financial planning to align resources with strategic goals
+ Use system-wide data analytics tools and performance metrics to assess nursing effectiveness and implement process improvements
+ Supports the implementation of policies and procedures across the system to enhance education and training around clinical processes.
+ Supports and facilitates process improvement in the facility and across the system.
+ Directs practices towards identifying barriers and/or gaps in clinical competencies.
+ Leads initiatives in problem solving and implementing solutions for continuous improvement
+ Coordinate with the system on incident reporting and patient safety programs, ensuring seamless communication and follow-up on corrective actions.

Operational and Financial Management

Talent Development and Retention
+ Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing nursing teams, leveraging the system’s resources
+ Ensure a supportive work culture focused on professional growth, engagement, and team member well-being within the facility
+ Collaborates with Human Resources to provide continuing education, training, and leadership development for nursing staff.

Collaboration and Communication
+ Work closely with facility leadership, including the President & COO, and other facility department leadership, to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and streamline patient care processes.
+ Serve as the hospital’s nursing representative in system-wide committees, initiatives, and projects, ensuring alignment and consistent communication between the facility and the broader health system.
+ Liaise with external partners, patient families, and the community, representing the facility in a manner that supports the health system’s mission and values.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
+ Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations and system policies, establishing a proactive approach to risk management and regulatory compliance.
+ Partner with the system’s quality and compliance departments to implement standardized risk mitigation strategies across facilities.
+ Stay current with healthcare trends, accreditation standards, and industry changes to adapt policies, supporting both hospital and health system compliance.
What We're Looking For
+ Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Nursing, required. Graduate Degree - MSN, MBA, MHA, MEd, required.
+ Experience: Five years Successful supervisory/management experience in a healthcare industry, required.
+ Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
