## **Job Summary**
Expand Energy’s in\-house legal team is a highly productive and collaborative team, and seeks a pragmatic and strategic litigation attorney with extensive oil and gas experience\. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and General Counsel, the chief responsibility of the next member of our team will be to provide strategic and tactical oversight of the company’s active and diverse litigation and dispute docket, including class actions, royalty, title, and other lease\-related disputes, securities matters, health, safety, and environmental matters, employment\-related disputes, bankruptcy matters, and governmental and regulatory investigations\. Leveraging prior trial experience, you will directly supervising other attorney and paralegals and manage a diverse team of outside lawyers to ensure that specific, case strategy is cost efficient and aligns with the company’s broader business and operational objectives\.
## **Job Duties & Responsibilities**
+ New position to coordinate all litigation and arbitration matters for the company, including contractual disputes, land and title matters, environmental, personal injury and employment
+ Reports directly to the Executive Vice President and General Counsel
+ Develops strategies for particular matters along with outside counsel
+ Actively contributes to pleadings, briefs and other court filings
+ Supervises outside litigation and arbitration counsel
+ Supervises discovery, including e\-discovery, and responses to third\-party subpoenas and document requests with assistance of non\-attorney personnel
+ Works with commercial representatives and other company lawyers in settlement discussions when appropriate
+ Works with the EVP and General Counsel and with other company lawyers in developing policies, procedures and standard documents/clauses to reduce litigation exposure and achieve appropriate protections and indemnities
+ Prepares periodic reports on status of litigation, including review of litigation disclosure in SEC filings
+ Keeps EVP and General Counsel abreast of significant litigation and arbitration matters
+ May involve some travel, mostly US domestic

+ Demonstrated ability to identify and achieve strategic objectives
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Able to “take charge” of matters and manage multiple matters with little supervision
+ Sound judgment
+ Able to work collaboratively with company commercial representatives and other company attorneys
+ Advanced knowledge of oil and gas contracts and related agreements
+ Advanced knowledge of phases within oil and gas exploration and production operations, including midstream and marketing
+ Advanced knowledge of laws, rules and regulations that apply to an assigned region, as well as industry practices and customs
+ Advanced knowledge of contractual risk mitigation measures common in oil and gas contracts
+ Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
+ Ability to deal tactfully and confidently with internal and external customers at all organizational levels in independent and difficult situations
+ Ability to practice law in the assigned area of geographic responsibility
## **Education**
Minimum: Doctoral degree \- from accredited university \- Juris Doctorate
## **Experience**
+ 12\+ years litigation experience, including first chair trial experience
+ Large law firm or top tier litigation boutique experience
