    Description:

    We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused **Healthcare Resource Specialist** to join our Patient Access team. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a seamless experience navigating the healthcare system.     The Patient Access team works HYBRID, full-time Monday-Friday between the hours of 7am and 5:30pm in Boise.

     

    Percentage of time working in-office vs remote will depend on business needs and will be determined by the Supervisor.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

    Education:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent required

    Experience/Skills we are looking for:

    + Previous experience in hospital, medical or insurance office setting preferred.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

    + Strong organizational skills with high accuracy and productivity.

    + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

    + Proficient in multiple software applications, including Epic, Outlook, MS Office, and practice management systems.

    + Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare systems (insurance, Medicare, Medicaid) preferred.

    + Ability to learn and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare community, including specialties and providers.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    + Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and staff, fostering positive relationships.

    + Act as a system navigator and primary contact for patients and families, addressing questions and concerns.

    + Assist patients in overcoming healthcare, financial, or social barriers (e.g., arranging interpreters, providing transportation resources).

    + Facilitate the ordering and processing of ambulatory referrals, including referral requests, status updates, redirects, and expediting referrals as needed.

    + Appropriately route calls to clinical staff when trigger words or urgent concerns are identified.

    + Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards.

    + Schedule appointments in the electronic health record (EHR) using provider-specific templates and preferences.

    + Collect and validate patient demographic and insurance information accurately.

    + Collaborate with clinic contacts to coordinate unusual requests or new patient appointments.

    + Handle multiple phone lines professionally while balancing patient experience and organizational goals.

    + Work independently and as part of a team to solve problems, improve workflows, and maintain a positive work environment.
