    Basic Job Functions:

    The Power Engineer will support NYS within the areas of, but not limited to, power distribution equipment design, maintenance, and operation (transformers, breakers, SVCs, relays/trip units, etc.), ARC flash programs, high voltage maintenance and safety training, and assist with any ongoing electrical issues within any part of the mill. The Power Distribution Engineer will safely operate various equipment (including forklifts, man lifts, sky tracks, etc.) and will interpret drawings and manuals for complex equipment and machinery in order to lead and perform complex projects. The Power Distribution Engineer will demonstrate safety-minded support of our entire maintenance team while seeking to provide world-class reliability for our customers. The Power Distribution Engineer will establish trusted relationships; continually seek improvement; listen, learn, and teach; and work weekends and/or holidays as needed to support the needs of our NYS team. Safety is an important part of all jobs at Nucor-Yamato Steel Company; therefore, candidates must be able to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards to make safety a priority at all times.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Four-year Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent qualifications and experience in the electrical power field.

     

    Experience or training with power distribution equipment and maintenance.

     

    1+ years industrial electrical maintenance experience with emphasis on medium to high voltage applications

    Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to work at hand.

    Preferences:

    + Experience in transformer testing including SFRA, TTR, and Power Factor

    + Experience with preventative maintenance, upgrades, installation, and commissioning of plant power distribution equipment (circuit breakers, disconnects, transformers, switchgear, etc.)

    + Experience with protection relay coordination, adjustment, and replacement

    + Experience using NFPA 70E in arc flash hazard analysis, methods of hazard reduction, and PPE selection.

    + Experience with AutoCAD, Easy Power, and Microsoft Office software
