We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of shelving and retail display systems. Our company has been a trusted partner for retailers for over 65 years, known for our innovation, quality products, and exceptional service. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing production processes to achieve operational excellence and meet the evolving needs of retail.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and refine production processes for shelving and retail display systems to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
+ Apply lean principles to minimize waste in fixture fabrication, welding, and assembly lines, while improving throughput.
+ Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of specialized machinery used in metal forming and fixture assembly.
+ Design manufacturing processes and address equipment malfunctions to ensure production continuity and safety.
+ Assist support personnel, including Technicians, Maintenance, and Tool and Die staff, in resolving less complex technical matters.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology.
+ 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Project, or Equipment roles, including internships or professional experience.
+ Experience in the automotive industry or with companies producing consumer or industrial products.
+ Proficiency in industrial engineering, time studies, process flow, plant layout, continuous improvement, process improvement, equipment layout, and robotic welding cells.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of the Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST) or similar work measurement systems.
+ 3D design skills.
+ Previous automotive experience.
+ Experience in metal working, OEM, and CAD.
Work Environment
The work environment is within a large manufacturing facility focused on producing sheet metal shelving units. The facility is an older building with some older equipment, creating a noisy atmosphere due to fabrication and manufacturing lines. Engineers primarily work on the floor alongside production support. The engineering team consists of 10 engineers with experience ranging from 2 to 40 years. This is a first-shift opportunity, with working hours from 7 AM to 4 PM. The environment is casual, with a flexible work schedule and laid-back culture. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middlebury, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.33 - $45.67/hr.
