Job Title: PhlebotomistJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team, proficient in blood collection by venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all age groups, including pediatric and challenging draws. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety and be capable of effectively communicating these principles to colleagues. Additionally, this role requires the ability to provide orientation and training for patient service technicians. You will be working with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead. The schedule requires availability between 6am to 11pm every day of the week.

Responsibilities

+ Perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques.

+ Handle pediatric blood collections and difficult draws in medical office buildings.

+ Ensure compliance and safety standards are met and communicated to other staff.

+ Provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.

+ Draw 45-55 patients within an 8-hour shift in an outpatient setting.

+ Draw 20-30 patients within an 8-hour shift in an inpatient hospital setting.

+ Travel to various Medical Office Building labs throughout South Orange County.

Essential Skills

+ Phlebotomy

+ Lab Assistant skills

+ CPT I Certification

+ Venipuncture expertise

+ Neonatal and pediatric draw experience

+ Experience with lab systems such as Cerner

+ Customer service skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High School Diploma

+ At least six months to one year of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting

+ Hospital experience is a plus

+ Experience with pediatrics

+ Excellent attendance and behavior record

+ Flexibility in shifts and hours

Work Environment

This position involves working in high-volume Medical Office Buildings (clinics) and, upon permanent placement, in the main hospital lab. Locations include Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, and Tustin, CA. The role demands adaptability to different clinic environments and the ability to handle varying patient volumes efficiently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
