Job Title: PharmacistJob Description

The Pharmacist plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications. This position involves performing prescription reviews, handling data quality checks, and ensuring that all clinical, quality, and drug utilization reviews are accurate. The pharmacist will also manage inbound and outbound calls from healthcare providers and pharmacies, providing patient and family education on medication usage over the phone. Additionally, the Staff Pharmacist oversees the work of pharmacy technicians, ensuring that medication orders are correctly interpreted and dispensed.

Responsibilities

+ Review and approve medication orders by interpreting physician orders and ensuring compliance with FDA-approved labeling and program guidelines.

+ Identify and verify prescriptions, ensuring the appropriate medication, dose, strength, directions, and patient information are correct.

+ Handle inbound and outbound communications with healthcare providers and pharmacies.

+ Educate patients and families on medication usage, dosage, and potential side effects.

+ Monitor drug therapies and control medications to ensure safe dispensing practices.

+ Identify and report adverse events and product complaints in accordance with pharmacy regulations.

+ Stay updated on pharmacy laws and changes, and complete continuing education courses to maintain licensure.

+ Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste.

+ Supervise and guide pharmacy staff, providing coaching and performance reviews.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum 1-2 years of professional experience as a Pharmacist in a retail or specialty pharmacy setting.

+ B.S. Pharm degree required; Pharm.D. preferred.

+ Current and valid Pharmacist state license in good standing.

+ Proficiency in data entry, prescription review, and call-center operations.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Knowledge of FDA health regulations, pharmacology, and legal compliance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in pharmacy benefits management and managed care.

+ Ability to analyze information and administer medication effectively.

+ Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills.

+ Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.

+ Proficiency with basic computer programs and ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously.

Work Environment

This is a remote, closed-door, mail-order specialty pharmacy. The pharmacy ships high-cost, specialty drugs to patients' homes, requiring careful handling and a detailed approach. The pharmacy operates Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 10 pm, with shifts typically falling between 8 am and 8 pm. Candidates should be available for training from 8:30 am to 5 pm EST, with program-specific training lasting approximately four weeks. The work environment is dynamic, with potential for early starts at 6 am and future weekend shifts based on business needs.

This is a Permanent position based out of Miami, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
