    POSITION SUMMARY

    At CVS, we are building a next-generation Infrastructure Platform that empowers engineering teams across CVS Digital to deploy code and operate applications at the scale of a Fortune 10 enterprise. This platform will serve hundreds of engineers across Retail, Pharmacy, Health Solutions, and Aetna—supporting applications used by millions of customers.

     

    As a Senior Software Development Engineer – IaaS, you will be a key contributor in designing and implementing a modern, self-service application resource provisioning system. You will work closely with other engineers, architects, and product teams to deliver highly scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure solutions. This is an opportunity to work on a new team building a platform from the ground up, where your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will directly impact developer experience and operational excellence.

    + Develop technical solutions in collaboration with other engineers across CVS Digital to ensure we're building an infrastructure platform with our customer's needs in mind

    + Lead the implementation of a self-service platform that enables engineers to deploy code safely, quickly, and easily

    + Keep an eye out for new and emerging technologies that improve performance, delivery, and the developer experience

    + Actively participate in peer code reviews, providing feedback to your fellow engineers to make them better and to improve the quality of the software we deliver

    + Enjoy automating developer pain away by developing a robust compute infrastructure

    + Approach all engineering work with a performance lens and make it easy for teams to identify performance bottlenecks

    + Find joy and pride in coaching and mentoring mid to early career software engineers

    + Look for opportunities to share what you've learned with the broader engineering organization

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + 5+ years of professional software development experience with at least 3+ years of managing and provisioning Kubernetes clusters in production environments

    + 3+ years working with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) for traffic management, security, and observability

    + 3+ years managing cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure), including compute, networking, IAM, and storage

    + Experience managing TLS certificates, including automated renewal and Kubernetes integration

    + Hands-on experience deploying Kubernetes applications using Helm

    + Strong understanding of networking concepts: DNS, load balancing, ingress controllers, firewalls, VPN

    + Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with architecture and product team

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Experience building backend APIs in Java or Go

    + Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments

    + Strong skills in automation via scripting or CLI tools

    + Expertise in observability for infrastructure services

    + Background in mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence

    + Knowledge of zero-trust networking models and service-to-service authentication

    + Ability to assess and optimize large-scale infrastructure performance

    + Strong communication skills to present architecture trade-offs and technical recommendations

    EDUCATION

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

    Pay Range

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    $83,430.00 - $222,480.00

     

    This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
