    POSITION TITLE: Coatings Inspection Training and Project Support Specialist

     

    POSITION DUTIES: The Coatings Inspection Training and Project Support Specialist is responsible for technically supporting the Coatings Group management team and field personnel by contributing to group and corporate goals and objectives, meeting client/project objectives, maintaining/maximizing client satisfaction and product quality, and overall being able to “grow within the job appropriately.”  The incumbent works with general direction from the Coatings Group Operations Manager and Coatings Group Manager, and interfaces directly with Project Managers and Coatings Inspectors.

    The Coatings Inspection Training and Project Support Specialist is responsible for new coatings inspector success and providing technical assistance to existing coatings inspectors by:

    + Onboarding, training, and mentoring all new coatings inspectors;

    + Providing remedial training to inspectors who have assigned performance improvement plans;

    + Reviewing and critiquing annual online safety and coatings inspection training;

    + Writing monthly articles highlighting different technical topics for the KTA Insider newsletter

    The Coatings Inspection Training and Project Specialist is also tasked with maximizing client satisfaction by:

    + Developing and maintaining relationships with select customers as a Client Liaison/Advocate,

    + Tracking appropriate client information and corresponding with potential and previous clients;

    + Coordinating job activities for assigned client(s);

    + Communicating progress and developments involving projects to the clients;

    + Reviewing inspection reports and project documents for clients and Project Managers;

    + Performing senior specialist level inspection and testing of painted and concrete substrates as directed.

     

    REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field, and five (5) years of experience in a coatings or coatings quality control related role.

    Must have some experience with:

    + Performing senior specialist level inspection of painted steel and concrete substrates in the nuclear, power, oil/gas, water/wastewater and transportation sectors

    + Identifying the job hazards associated with performing surface preparation and coating application on complex industrial structures

    + Developing and maintaining relationships with clients/customers

    + Understanding and strong comprehension of AMPP and ASTM standards relative to the industrial coatings industry

    + Understanding the calibration, use, and limitations of coatings inspection equipment

    In addition, the Coatings Training and Project Support Specialist must have the following certifications:

    + AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector

    + AMPP CP1 (Cathodic Protection)

    + AMPP C1 and C2

    + AMPP Protective Coatings Specialist

    + AMPP C-3 Supervisor/Competent Person for Deleading of Industrial Structures

    RATE OF PAY: $115,294 per year

    The employer will pay or exceed the prevailing wage, as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor.

     

    LOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT: 145 Enterprise Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15275

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position may telecommute from anywhere in the US.  Extensive travel to unanticipated client sites throughout the US (85%).
