The Manager Distribution Engineering - Customer is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of engineering, design, analysis, and planning of distribution facilities in alignment with Division strategy. The role is accountable for providing the requisite project management, design engineering, permitting, and procurement management of additions and modifications to the District¿s overhead and underground distribution system to ensure the safe, reliable, and economic distribution of electric power to serve our customers resulting from external customer initiated projects. This role is also responsible for managing and directing engineering studies to evaluate new products, materials, Distributed Energy Resources, fuse coordination, Smart Grid, and standards to more effectively and efficiently design/operate the distribution system and support customer needs. Represents the District in engineering activities associated with distribution facilities and customer metering to ensure the District's position on same is presented in a competent and accurate manner. The Manager Distribution Engineering ¿ Customer is responsible for implementing the policy and technical design basis of the work through close collaboration with the Principal Engineer Distribution Engineering and the Manager Distribution Engineering ¿ System Improvements for all design processes and execution of engineering assignments.
1. Build and maintain a competent/capable team of staff in alignment with OPPD¿s Accountable Management System (AMS) guidelines.
* Effectively apply OPPD¿s Managerial Leadership Practices (MLPs) (i.e.: Management Accountabilities, Talent Inventory, Succession Planning, Organizational Performance Planning, Clarity Building, etc.) for assigned staff.
* Develop and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all direct reports targeting: specific performance gaps necessary to fulfill the work of the Role, any currently assigned Key Accountabilities (KAs), or any special assignments designed to enhance the effectiveness of Role, Department, Division, etc. (Completed Annually)
* Develop and maintain a set of staff performance metrics.
* Reinforce, monitor and hold subordinate managers accountable for the effective application of OPPD¿s Manager Leadership Practices.
2. Accountable to develop and implement plans and programs (1-2 years in scope) to achieve OPPD and Energy Delivery strategic objectives and to deliver desired outputs/assigned KAs of the Engineering division.
3. Manage and direct the requisite project management, design engineering, permitting, procurement management, and construction standards of additions and modifications for the District's overhead and underground distribution system to ensure the safe, reliable, regulatory compliant and affordable distribution of electric power to serve our customers associated with external customer initiated projects.
4. Provide for engineering and design review of all plans, orders, estimates, specifications, permit applications, and contracts issued by Distribution Engineering - Customer to ensure compliance with all applicable government and District regulations and requirements.
5. Manage and direct self-providing project management services; or participating on larger project teams as required on large and/or technically complex District projects.
6. Develop, maintain, adjust, and submit, as needed, revised staffing plans to advise Director on the staffing levels required to effectively support growth. Maximize company resources while leveraging external support.
7. Perform routine reviews of work functions in accordance with Division Human Performance Policy for Knowledge Based Work as well as departmental Human Performance Procedures. Report all findings to management.
8. Attract and retain high performing employees through development, trust, recognition, and career fair participation.
9. Provide department level design support to Distribution Engineering - System Improvements, Transmission Engineering, Substation Engineering, Maintenance Optimization and customer service groups.
10. Participate, as needed and assigned, on the T&D Emergency Response Team.
Qualifications
Required:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
* Minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience. A Master's degree in Engineering or Business may be used in lieu of 1 year of experience.
* Registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Nebraska or means for reciprocity within one year.
* Advanced MS Office Professional Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* A valid driver's license is required.
Desired:
* Extensive experience in Distribution design, project management, metering, and electrical networks.
* Familiarity and experience with Ventyx (Asset Suite), Cognos, Bentley MicroStation, PeopleSoft, MS Project, and SharePoint.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and execute assigned projects while working with other engineering professionals in a team based environment.
* Thorough knowledge of OPPD's transmission, distribution and substation systems, corporate policy, regulations, and standard practices.

Salary Grade: S8
Minimum: $131,343
Midpoint: $164,179
